Joburg’s up-and-coming starlet
JOBURG - Her face may seen very familiar and there's a good reason why, as Robyn Africa (19) is a rising star in the South African entertainment industry.
Her music video repertoire includes All Eyes On Me by A.K.A featuring Da Les, Burna Boy and JR; Fly Away by Ifani featuring Blackles; Rands and Naira remix; as well as the South African hip-hip music smash hit CaraCara by K.O and Kid X. Africa will also be a part of 10 soon-to-be-released music videos for other foreign and upcoming artists.
Her pretty face and killer body also features in modelling work for well-known photographers such as Lee Photography.
“I was asked by one of my mother’s friends to help out backstage at a fashion show. One of the designers asked if I was a model and when I said ‘no’, he insisted that I was and asked me to model his finale dress. I ended up modelling two designers’ dresses that night, she explained.
Africa has a love for fashion and modelling and has joined a modelling agency. “Modelling has changed my life. Through doing videos I have been approached to do some other jobs and have been given some recording opportunities, as well as being asked to do a single for a movie that’s being shot in South Africa.”
She has been described by her peers as a down-to-earth and respectful woman who has remained the same – with the same bubbly and fun-loving personality.
Not only is she a pretty face, but a focused fitness trainer in training. Africa will study at the Exercise Training Academy this year and aspires to become a personal trainer in addition to a big-shot model. She certainly is one to watch in South Africa.
Africa encourages anyone who shares the same dream of becoming a model to take the career seriously.
