Man awaiting judgement for assaulting wife
ALEXANDRA - An 8th Avenue man is awaiting court judgement for a case of common assault of his wife
A man who resides in 8th Avenue is awaiting a court judgement for a case of common assault after beating his wife.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the assault occurred after the man’s wife had asked him why he hadn’t come home one night. He claimed to have been away doing a piece job.
When pressed by his wife, he demanded she give him condoms and left saying he was returning to where had been the previous night.
He came back home two days later and his wife refused to let him. He forced entry into the house through the roof and assaulted her.
She is said to have left for her sister’s home on 10th Avenue. The husband followed her and assaulted her with a belt when she refused to go home with him. The wife reported the incident to the police resulting in the man’s arrest.
