5 Alex residents nabbed for car theft and robbery
ALEXANDRA - Five Alex residents are in custody awaiting trial for alleged possession of stolen motor vehicles and goods.
Alex Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the five, comprising three women and two men, were arrested on 10 May at a house on Deflane Street, Eastbank after a tip-off was received by the police from the public.
The vehicles are at a police pound and the goods in storage.
Ramotshela said they were found at the house with a white Ford vehicle reported stolen in Boksburg, a red Chevrolet vehicle reported stolen in Kwadabeka and a lot of goods stolen from a house robbery in Edenvalle which the suspects could not account for. A key to the Ford was found in one of the men’s pockets.
Ramotshela said investigations were ongoing including determining if hijacking was involved and if any victim sustained injuries.
