THE literary work of renowned Alex poet and writer, Fresh Foot Print by Prof. Wally Serote, will come alive on stage at the Olive Tree Theatre in Alexandra.

The show, which is directed by Ntshieng Mokgoro and presented by Olive Tree Theatre in association with iARi, will run from 19 to 27 June. The story is about the tragic life of Tshidi, a North West province young woman lured to Johannesburg.

Her aspirations, unfortunately, turn to illusionary goals that are replaced by many social pitfalls and ills, leading her to abandon her self-respect to prostitution in order to survive.

Despite Tshidi’s musical talent, she is unable to use it to her financial benefit. Instead, her talent is quickly exploited for the benefit of others, further trapping her in horrific sexual enslavement.

“A narration of the multi-layered life of tragedy of a young woman who is destined for the bigger stage. This story may reflect the experience of many, and the play will have audiences marvel at Princess Shabangu’s and director Ntshieng Mokgoro’s talents in bringing the character to life,” wrote Leseho Manala of Alex News in his 29 May review of the show.

Details: Ntshieng Mokgoro of Olive Tree Theatre, 2nd floor, Yarona Mall, 89 Corner 3rd Street and Watt Avenue, Wynberg.
