A retail store employee at the Alex Plaza Mall has been remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for further investigation with regards to a case of fraud.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said on 18 April, a man was noticed by a female co-worker allegedly crediting a clothing item worth R750, but not packing the item back on the shelf afterwards. After some time, the co-worker received a call from head office expressing concern about an unauthorised transaction processed at the shop; this in reference to the said crediting.
Days later, the co-worker informed the area manager about the incident and the man was reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
The man will appear in court again once the investigation has been concluded.
