Three detained for robbery and assault
ALEXANDRA - Four Alex men have been arrested and are to appear in court for a case of assault and robbery.
Four Alex men have been arrested and are to appear in the Alex Magistrates’ Court on charges of assault and robbery.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the four suspects were alleged to have beaten and robbed a man who was walking home from Monateng Tavern in Ext. 9, Alex, at midnight on 14 June.
Ramotshela said, “The victim had been walking home when the four suspects followed and caught up with him along Moon Street. They allegedly grabbed him by his pants, searched him and took his wallet with R250 and three Nokia cellphones worth R1 700.
“The victim is said to have freed himself and run away, but the suspects followed him home and barged into his house where they also took his Supersonic amplifier worth R3 000.”
According to Ramotshela, the suspects allegedly assaulted the victim before leaving his residence.
