The trial of the three men and a minor accused of killing Emmanuel Sithole resumed at the Johannesburg Magistrates’ court on 10 July where the state called on its third witness, Clarence Mahundla.
Mthinto Bhengu, Sizwe Mngomezulu, Sifundo Mzimela and a 17-year-old are on trial for Sithole’s murder before Magistrate Lucas van der Schyff. The four accused face two charges each – one of murder, and of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The accused all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mahundla testified that he was on his way to Pan African Mall and was walking on Roosevelt Street when he witnessed four men assaulting Sithole.
He said he saw accused number one, Bhengu, stabbing the deceased, and accused number four, Mzimela, assaulting Sithole with a spanner.
