Court fails to prioritise horrific child porn case
JOBURG - The case of a suspect linked to an international child pornography ring that distributed shocking footage of the rape, torture and murder of new born babies has been postponed.
The case of a suspect linked to an international child pornography ring that distributed shocking footage of the rape, torture and murder of newborn babies has been postponed to 17 September.
According to Germaine Vogel from Women and Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA), courtroom 3 at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court was not operational. The case was first heard in this courtroom. This resulted in huge pressure being placed on courtroom 2 and its presiding officers with various cases being heard in the same courtroom, rather than a dedicated court for sexual offences.
Several cases of armed robbery were heard at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court before the international child rape images case involving a 39-year-old suspect from Midrand.

The suspect was released on bail by the court at his first appearance for possession, and distribution of images of horrific crimes against children on R5 000 bail.
“We at WMACA believe that the victims must be found and investigations are underway analysing details found in the images to confirm the locations of the victims in each image,” said Vogel.
