ALEXANDRA - A man was stabbed to death morning of 9 August on one of Alex’s streets and a suspect is in custody pending court appearance.
A man was stabbed to death on the morning of 9 August on 16th Avenue and a suspect is in custody pending his court appearance.
Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said police acted on a tip-off from members of the public and found the victim dressed in a pink T-shirt and jeans lying dead on the street at about 10am with stab wounds to the upper chest and upper arm.
Maphakela said a male suspect, aged between 29 and 35 and from 13th Avenue, was arrested in connection with the murder and appeared in Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 11 August.
Maphakela said the suspect was remanded in custody pending a bail application on 18 August. Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
