SHOCKING: Men await sentencing for attempted murder of couple

ALEXANDRA - Two Alex men have been remanded in custody pending their next court hearing for alleged murder of a boy and attempted murder of his girl friend.

Two Alex men have been remanded in custody at Johannesburg Prison by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending their next court hearing on 26 August for the alleged murder of a male teenager and attempted murder of his girlfriend.

The suspects allegedly stabbed the boy in the chest with a knife after hitting both him and his girlfriend on the heads, resulting in them losing consciousness.

The incident happened in February last year at about 7pm when the boy, who was 16 years old and the girl who was 15, were sitting in the Alex Football Stadium’s parking lot.

One of the men is said to have approached the couple and accused the boy of troubling his relatives at the boy’s school. When the boy denied knowledge of the accusation, the man allegedly molested him before stabbing him. The man’s accomplice is said to have joined in beating the victims with a blunt object on the heads while continuing to stab the boy in other parts of his body.

The victims lost consciousness and when the girl awoke and saw the motionless body of the boy she screamed for help. A passerby called an ambulance which took them to hospital, but the boy was declared dead on arrival.

Police investigations led to the arrest of the first suspect who was allegedly found in possession of the deceased boy’s shoes 10 days after the incident. The second suspect was arrested afterwards after allegedly making public confessions of his involvement in the incident and seemingly appearing deranged.
