A warrant of arrest has been issued for an Alex man who failed to attend court after being granted R1 000 bail after being arrested for motor vehicle theft.
The warrant will come into effect if the man doesn’t attend the next hearing on 22 September, together with his co-accused who did attend court. His alleged accomplices are two brothers who were each granted bail of R4 000 for the crime committed on 19 May this year.
The offence is said to have occurred at about 9.30pm after the complainant had parked his Nissan bakkie at the house of his brother-
in-law on 14th Avenue. When he came out of the house the vehicle was gone.
The following day, police patrolling in Tsutsumani saw the car being stripped by the two brothers at their home on Cameroon Street. On inspection the officers found the vehicle engine number had already been filed off. The brothers claimed to have bought the car from their accomplice.
They were arrested and they took the police to their accomplice’s home in Alex where he was also arrested.
