Read the fine print on Snapchat

JOBURG - One of the recent social media applications to have been introduced to Android and iOS is Snapchat, an application which allows real-time picture chatting, and now the application wants its users to know what happens with their content after they upload it.

Initially, the application would not take ownership of picture and video content created by its users, but they have now changed their terms and conditions.

Any user would receive a notification if another user had taken a screenshot of their snaps so that they would be aware of the new owner of the picture.

Now, Snapchat has amended their terms and conditions to ensure that all users will know that any content created using the app is owned by Snapchat and that they can do whatever they like with the content. According to UK publication, The Telegraph, Snapchat can use any picture or video created by the app in their promotional material or in any other manner.

This gives users some food for thought regarding the type of content created on the app.
