An Alex man was sentenced to three months in prison or a R350 fine for possession and use of drugs that were found at his residence on 12th Avenue.

Sipho Letswalo (33) who claimed to be a taxi driver, was arrested after a tip-off from the public.

The court heard that on 15 November last year, police asked to search his house where they found a toy gun and four small packs of drugs weighing .36 grams which turned out to be cocaine. Letswalo claimed the drugs were for his personal use.

Police confiscated the toy gun which was checked for fingerprints. He was sentenced only for the drug possession and use as there was no evidence of the toy gun being used to commit any crime.
