Fraud case for fake government tender postponed
JOBURG - A 36 year old Hillbrow woman's fraud case said to have been dragging on for a long time was postponed by the Alexandra Magistrates Court to 9 March after her legal representatives claimed she couldn't attend due to illness.
A fraud case, which has been dragging on for an extended period of time involving a Hillbrow woman, was recently postponed by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to 9 March after her legal representatives claimed she could not attend court hearings due to illness.
The accused is charged with defrauding a Midrand-based financial management company which approved her loan application. The court heard that in April 2014, the accused applied for a loan of R536 000 from the company. She allegedly used a fraudulent government purchase order purporting to be for a government tender her company won to supply services to the Municipal Infrastructure Services Agency (Misa), a government funding arm for local government.
The finance company approved a loan for R320 000. When her company failed to make the first payment, the company contacted (Misa) which denied any record of a tender awarded to the accused’s company. The accused was traced and arrested in Hillbrow. Investigations revealed that she was also wanted for another fraud case of R70 000.
