ALEXANDRA - Two men have been arrested by police after a security guard found them inside the shop he was hired to guard.
Two men have been arrested by police after a security guard found them inside the shop he was hired to guard.
According to Alex Cluster Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, the security guard had been asked by two men who had installed CCTV cameras in the shop to allow them in to investigate something.
The guard opened the store and inside they found a man who confessed to breaking into the store to steal the electric cable in the roof. His accomplice was in the ceiling.
While the guard was still questioning the one suspect, his accomplice climbed down from the ceiling and together they tried to escape by running through a closed glass sliding door.
With the help of the two men, the guard managed to apprehend the two suspects who were handed over to the police. Maphakela said they would appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on a charge of burglary of business premises.
