Minors face Rasta Village murder charge
ALEXANDRA - Two 17 year old minors appeared at the Alexandra Magistrates Court with three others youths and an adult charged with murder that occurred last year July at the Rasta Village, Far Eastbank.
The murder of Nxobile Masuku occurred on 8 July last year at Rasta Village in Far Eastbank.
After appearing in court, one minor was referred to a place of safety while the other is under the care of his guardian. The youths aged 18 and 19 were granted bail of R2 000 each while the 33-year-old suspect was denied bail.
The court heard that at 11.30am, the accused were informed that the deceased had stolen clothes from village residents. It is said the group then searched for the deceased and after finding him, allegedly assaulted kicked and beat him.
One of the minors is said to have picked up a concrete block which he then allegedly threw at the deceased head. The doctor’s report submitted in court certified the cause of death as blunt-force injury to the head.
It is not known if the youngsters were pupils at the time of the incident. The case continues.
