Husband and wife bust for beating housemate

ALEXANDRA - A man and his wife beat up a woman who had complained about a leaking tap.

A man and his wife allegedly beat up their housemate after the victim complained to the man’s wife about a leaking tap.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, said the victim of 16th Avenue, had spoken to her female housemates about the leaking tap. The matter was solved with one woman, but the man’s wife decided to barricade herself in her room and refused to discuss the issue.

Later in the day, the husband of the woman who refused to resolve the issue returned home from the gym and confronted the victim about allegations of ‘harassing his family’. During the encounter with the victim, the man is said to have become angered and started beating up the woman.

He was allegedly joined in the assault spree by his wife, but the victim managed to escape and reported the incident at the Alexandra Police Station. The man and his wife were later arrested and will appear soon in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on charges of common assault.
