Cellphone-grabbing thief nabbed
ALEXANDRA - Man grabs woman's cellphone in the street and bolts.
Police have apprehended a suspected cellphone thief who allegedly grabbed a woman’s phone in the street and bolted.
The victim told police she was walking with her younger sister while texting on 11th Avenue when a man suddenly grabbed her cellphone and ran away.
But the dumb thief made a blunder by looking back at his victim and she managed to see his facial features and also noticed that he was limping.

Soon after, the victim and her sister bumped into their male cousin and described the suspect, the clothes he was wearing and the fact that he was limping.
The victim’s cousin immediately knew who the alleged thief was and told them his name and where he lived. The victim then went to the police station and reported the matter and the suspect was apprehended.
Spokesperson for Alexandra Police Station, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the man would appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on a charge of common robbery.
