Learning programme boosts Realogile pupils

ALEXANDRA - Ocular Technologies showcases the success of its sponsored learning programme at Realogile High School to its partners.

Contact centre solutions provider, Ocular Technologies, gave its clients and other corporates an opportunity to witness the impact its sponsored learning programme has had at Realogile High School in Alexandra.

In partnership with training company, Nothando Training and its Whole Brain Learning programme, Ocular Technologies has supported pupils in coming to grips with practical learning methods since 2011.

“We wanted to show other role players in the private sector, the difference corporates can make in educating our country’s youth. By showing the learning methods in a practical way, I believe we achieved our goal,” said Pommie Lutchman, chief executive officer of Ocular Technologies.

The main objective of the programme is to increase the matric pass rate of pupils, in order to ensure a viable future for them and to alleviate the resultant socio-economic effects that school dropouts have on the country.

“On the day of our visit, it was inspiring to see how confident the pupils had become after obtaining the right tools to help them learn, understand and retain information,” Lutchman added.

Kamal Khusal, director and master trainer at Nothando Training, led the class and was vibrant and engaging with the pupils. “Motivation and inspiration was the core of the session and it was powerful to see the behaviour shift from the beginning of the course to the end,” Lutchman said.

Confident with the outcomes of the programme, the company has thrown down the gauntlet to other businesses in the private sector to also adopt a school and sponsor the programme.

“Our commitment to Realogile is long term. We are excited to see the contributions today’s pupils will make to tomorrow’s marketplace and hope other corporates do the same,” Lutchman said.
