Court urges neighbours to mend fences

ALEXANDRA - Court orders peace between neighbours over fence feud.

Two Alex neighbours on 4th Avenue were advised by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to reconcile in the interest of good neighbourliness.

The court dismissed a case involving a boundary fence brought by the son of a deceased homeowner against a female neighbour who he accused of destroying the fence erected in 1976 by his late father.

The 32-year-old complainant alleged that the neighbour had, over the years, damaged the fence, made it sag and lowered its height by hanging her blankets and clothes on it after doing laundry. As a result, the two were no longer on talking terms. It wasn’t revealed how the relationship was between the accused and the complainant’s late father.

They were urged to go home and reconcile.
