With the local government elections having gone by, the North Eastern Tribune hit the streets to get people’s views on the violence that marred the process in some wards. Here is what they had to say …
DAVE FISHER: Luckily in our areas we do not have this problem, there is a good working relationship within the parties. Violence has never solved any problems.
THENDO MAKUA: Politics is a very dirty game. It’s sad that people have to lose their lives just for the sake of votes. The government should have intervened.
MBALI LANGENI: People should not be killing other people for positions. Being a councillor is not for political gain but for serving the people.
LAWRENCE MATHEVULA: It was only a few wards where there were violence problems. I’m glad people didn’t panic.
STRIKE RAMBANI: There is a division in the ruling party itself. Next time, there should be a process where candidates go through an interview to be assessed not hand-picked.
