ANC to reflect on poor perfomance
JOBURG – ANC in talks with smaller parties to form coalitions.
The ANC in Gauteng has not taken their poor performance in the municipal elections lightly.
The party could not secure more that 50 percent of votes in any of the big metro municipalities in Gauteng. In Johannesburg, the ANC only managed to secure 44.55 percent of votes, giving them 121 seats.
Spokesperson of the party in Gauteng, Nkenke Kekana has highlighted that his party had taken a decision to introspect and reflect on the issues that their voters continue to raise with them. “We will not shy away from some weaknesses that have been identified, but will engage communities throughout the province to find speedy and meaningful solutions,” Kekana added.
He thanked all the people who went out to exercise their democratic right to vote in the elections. “We remain humbled by the support that we received in these elections and we do not take the support for granted.”
He said the ANC had started a process of negotiating with other political parties to form coalitions where they did not have a majority.
