Empty wallet robber awaits trial
ALEXANDRA – Armed suspect awaits trial for snatching empty wallet.
An Alex man has been remanded in custody awaiting trial for allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint on 18th Avenue at about 8.30am on 22 July this year.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said the armed suspect approached the victim, who was walking alone, from behind and told him not to turn around. He then demanded the victim’s phone and money.
The suspect then searched the victim and took his wallet which the victim requested back, saying it had no money in it. The suspect ran away with the wallet but was arrested nearby by police.
A gun with its serial number filed off was found on him.
