Maimane Foundation does good for disabled schoolgirls
ALEXANDRA - Maimane conducts schoolgirls games, donates sanitary pads
Alex’s legendary soccer player, Alfred Maimane Phiri is taking his social responsibility to another level, this time to disabled schoolgirls.
This will be through the Disability Sports Day event which will take place at 3 Square Sports Complex on 13th Avenue from 10am on 31 August.
Maimane is involved in community issues through the Maimane Alex Development Foundation which hosts a now popular Map Games’ annual winter soccer tournament. The foundation will use part of the gate takings from that tournament to support the girls’ games which will also be a celebratory contribution to Women’s Month. Participants will engage in netball, athletics, basketball and soccer and stand to win bronze, silver and gold medals. The participating schools will also receive sanitary pads valued at R5 000.
