Iphutheng’s amazing ambassador enthrals pupils
ALEXANDRA - Iphutheng Primary School hosts a careers day for its Grade 7 class.
Iphutheng Primary School has an amazing ambassador in Mosha Senyolo, a Wits University graduate, who was mobbed by pupils wanting more from her fountain of knowledge.
Mosha, now a qualified quantity surveyor with her own Kew-based company and currently a Wits masters student in property development and management, visited her former school as a motivational speaker at a careers day for Grade 7 pupils.
She told the pupils that they should not let their background deter them, as she never allowed it to. “I am what I am today because of hard work and perseverance with my schoolwork and having a goal in life.
“If you follow my footsteps, respect your teachers, your elders in the community and pay attention to your schoolwork, you too can achieve what I have achieved. You only need to be disciplined and focused,” Mosha told pupils in the presence of her former class teacher and now principal of the school, Kgamaka Thobejane.
The Alex-born quantity surveyor took the children on her journey as a pupil at Iphutheng from 1992 up until she completed her matric in 2004 at Northview High School.
She then registered at Wits for a BSc in Quantity Surveying, after which upon graduating she partnered with her father, Thabo Senyolo, also a quantity surveyor, in his business, Thabo Senyolo & Partners.
“I then decided to stand on my own feet and started my own company, Piloane Consulting Services in Kew, which is more than just a quantity surveying company but also embraces property development and management, which I am currently doing my master’s degree in,” Mosha said.
She added that she had a desire to work closely with the school through her company to give back to the community that made her what she was today.
“I have had talks with the principal to share ideas on a possible relationship and how this partnership can function to better the lives and educational opportunities of current pupils and those to come afterwards,” said Mosha, who also holds a certificate in project management from Unisa.
