Mngomezulu returns as technical director
ALEXANDRA – New technical director of the ANLFA, Mxolisi Mngomezulu has been appointed to his old position with immediate effect.
Mxolisi Mngomezulu, who recently smoked a peace pipe with the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association following a spat a few years ago, has been appointed to his old position as technical director.
This was announced by the secretary-general of the association, Mafika Morajane, following an urgent meeting of affiliates of Alex football on 18 and 19 October.
The urgent meeting had been called following a request from the mother body of football, the SA Football Association (Safa), that all local associations furnish the mother body with the name of their technical director for training purposes.
As the association still did not have a technical director following its parting of ways with Tsietsi Letsoela, Morajane said they had to convene an urgent meeting of the council and a unanimous decision was taken to reappoint Mngomezulu to his old position.

“This was done because Safa had given the local associations a deadline of 21 October to submit the names of their technical directors. We had to act urgently to fill the post or we were going to lose out on valuable training that Safa would like to conduct for our technical directors,” Morajane said.
Mngomezulu was unanimously offered the post which he gladly accepted, added Morajane. He is widely regarded as one of the best technical directors of Alex football and during his tenure, the association won back-to-back regional and inter-local football association competitions, including the Mayoral Cup, in both mens and women’s football.
His return is considered as a huge boost for struggling Alex football and he should be able to put Alex back on the football map.
