2 men arrested for rape
ALEXANDRA – Men await trial for rape of minors and woman.
Two suspects were arrested by the Alex police for two separate rape incidents which occurred on 24 November.
Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said, in the one incident, the suspect of 14th Avenue met a married woman at a tavern. The victim had left her home at about 7pm to have drinks, apparently after having a tiff with her husband.
After a while, the suspect asked her to accompany him to his home to fetch money for more drinks. When they got to his place, the suspect allegedly locked the door behind them.
When she asked why, as they were supposed to return to the tavern, the suspect asked for sex. After she refused, he allegedly became aggressive and started assaulting her. He then threw her on a bed and began undressing her.
She requested that he use a condom, he complied and raped her twice. Afterwards, she asked him to open the door, which he did, and she went to report the ordeal at the Alexandra Police Station, leading to his arrest.
In the other incident, Kodisang said a man was arrested for allegedly raping two girls said to be under the age of 10 at his home in the presence of their younger sister.
The victims’ mother noticed her children’s absence at home at about 7.30pm. She went looking for them and was directed by someone to the suspect’s house and she knocked on the door.
When there was no answer, she peeped through a keyhole and noticed her two children on a bed with the suspect, all allegedly naked. Their younger sister was seated on a chair.
She continued knocking until the suspect opened the door and, on seeing the mother, the children dressed and were taken home.
The suspect was later arrested.
