Ster Kinekor hosts party for squash players

JOBURG – Egoli Squash players from Alexandra, Joburg inner-city and Soweto are treated to a lavish Christmas party at Ster Kinekor Office Park in Sandton.

More than 120 players, coaches and sports coordinators of Egoli Squash centres in Alexandra, the Johannesburg inner-city and Soweto were treated to an early Christmas at the Ster Kinekor Office Park in Sandton.

Egoli Squash coordinator, Sharon Sibanda said the players had a great opportunity to play a round-robin squash tournament, have fun taking part in outdoor activities and also watched a movie.

For most of the players, the highlight of the day was watching a movie in a cinema for the very first time in their lives and that was courtesy of Ster Kinekor for providing such an experience for the players, some of whom, given their backgrounds, would not have otherwise had the opportunity to watch a movie on the big screen, said Sibanda.

The players were given breakfast, lunch and party packs at an event which also marked the celebration of Egoli Squash’s achievement at the 2016 South African Sports Awards.

Egoli Squash was awarded as the 2016 Recreation Body of the Year for providing a sporting opportunity for children which also ensures they have fun and a healthy lifestyle while playing squash.

Sibanda said this achievement and award would not have been possible without the support of the entertainment group. “We look forward to growing our partnership with Ster Kinekor in 2017. This is just the start of a vision that we share to provide fun and provocative events that are not only for enjoyment but also the opportunity to use the big screen as an educational forum.

“We look forward to establishing the Christmas party as one of our major year-end events with the support of Ster Kinekor, including the use of their lovely squash courts at their head office.”

In her words of gratitude, Sibanda added, “We have a long way to go in changing the social ills that youths experience within their communities. But we know we can do it, because of people and businesses like Ster Kinekor who invest in developing our youth.”
