The Salvation Army collects resources
JOBURG – The Salvation Army raises R2 000.
The Salvation Army has always been renowned for its charitable ways during the festive times and on the 10th December, they proved yet again how generous members of the public can be.
Adding a South African twist, the usual donation pot was replaced with a potjie pot which was set up at Pick n Pay in the Norwood Mall.
Major Carin Holmes, PR secretary for the Salvation Army Southern Africa Territory said, “The public were very generous in their giving.” A total of R2 000 was raised on the day which will be allocated to various community outreach programmes.
As always the Salvation Army band played on the day, which brought an air of nostalgia to many. The public mentioned how much they loved hearing the band in the mall and that they missed the Salvation Army bands over the festive season.
The Salvation Army band will be playing again at the Norwood Mall on 17 December between 10am and 12 noon.
