Rape and kidnap accused denied bail
ALEXANDRA – The 36-year-old man allegedly kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old girl.
An accused, who allegedly raped a minor late last year, was denied bail and remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court. His next appearance will be subject to the conclusion of further investigations and medical reports.
The 36-year-old accused and 14-year-old victim lived in the same block of flats. He allegedly took her hostage at gunpoint at about 9.30pm after he saw her knocking on her friend’s door, which is next door to his. He allegedly kicked her and dragged her into his flat, and locked her up inside.
The victim claimed to have fallen asleep and was awakened by the suspect hours later when he ordered her to undress. When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her and again pointed the gun at her, after which he is said to have overpowered and raped her. The victim managed to record him on her cellphone, swearing at her as she cried and pleaded with him.
After several hours, the suspect fell asleep and she locked herself in his toilet, from where she shouted and was overheard by her relatives. They broke into the suspect’s flat and rescued her. The police were called and they arrested him.
