28 nabbed for drunken driving in a week
ALEXANDRA – Police officers attend to 56 crimes and arrest 71 suspects in a week.
Alex police officers attended to 56 reported criminal offences and arrested 71 suspects for various crimes in the week ending 12 February.
Spokesperson for the police station, Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said the reported cases were as follows:
- 1 for attempted murder
- 1 for rape
- 2 for residential burglary
- 4 for robbery with firearms
- 1 for robbery using other weapons
- 3 for common robbery
- 1 for theft of a motor vehicle
- 1 for theft from a motor vehicle
- 8 for general theft
- 6 for malicious damage to property
- 1 for sexual assault
- 6 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- 21 for common assault.
Arrested suspects were as follows:
- 1 for house robbery
- 5 for armed robbery
- 3 common robbery
- 6 for shoplifting
- 3 for general theft
- 2 for possession of suspected stolen property
- 2 for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition
- 7 for possession and dealing in drugs
- 2 for malicious damage to property
- 1 for sexual assault
- 6 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- 5 for common assault
- 28 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
