Alex police investigate horror rape incident involving an Avanza

ALEXANDRA – Female taxi commuter kidnapped and raped repeatedly in abandoned building.

Alexandra police are investigating the horrific rape of a woman who was allegedly kidnapped by three suspects in a Toyota Quantum taxi.

The incident happened on 21 March in a disused building at an unknown location between 10.30pm and also at 5am the following morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the victim was on her way home from work in Sandton when she boarded the taxi to Alexandra in Klipfontein View, Midrand. The driver and his companion were inside the taxi. On the way, they picked up their friend who sat next to the victim before the taxi deviated from the Alex route.

When she asked the suspect who was sitting next to her about the route change, he allegedly slapped her and forced her head down. He also allegedly put a plastic bag over her head before the suspects switched to a Toyota Avanza and drove to an abandoned building where they left her locked up.

Inside the building, she found an eight-year-old girl who was bruised. The suspects returned later and took the girl away but one of them remained behind and allegedly raped the victim after cutting her on the stomach with a razor blade when she resisted. The other two suspects returned later and all three forced her to drink stuff that made her dizzy before they all allegedly raped her repeatedly and again left her locked in the building.

They returned the following morning and allegedly raped her again. They again left her locked inside the building. She dressed and managed to escape from the building.

The rape occurred during a national outcry against rape incidents associated with taxis. Several reports of rape cases associated with taxis in the township have recently been published in Alex News.
