R400 000 worth of prescription medication stolen, suspects now out on bail

ALEXANDRA - Relatives arrested for possession of restricted medicines get hefty bail.

 

Two relatives accused of stealing medicine valued at R400 000 were granted bail in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

They will appear in court again when the police investigation is completed.

The two accused – a distributor at a medicines supply agency, and an ambulance assistant – were granted R40 000 and R10 000 bail respectively.

The two accused rented a storage facility at an undisclosed location which the police raided after they were tipped off about suspicious activities at the facility. During the raid, the police confiscated a variety of restricted prescription medicines and drugs.

The police investigation will determine the source of the medicines and the extent of the crime.
