Feuding neighbours beat up peacemaker

Five men assaulted their neighbour for allegedly brokering a peace deal among themselves.

Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the victim was approached in his driveway by five feuding neighbours he had helped that morning to broker some peace after a bitter fight. They then started beating him up and stabbed him several times all over the body.

The suspects also smashed the windows of his car and stole groceries worth more than R500.

Maphakela said the suspects have since been arrested and will appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, theft and malicious damage to property.
