ALEXANDRA - Police in Alexandra have warned residents in Tsutsumani to be vigilant following an increase in the number of armed robberies in the area.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela of Alex police said they had received numerous complaints of people being robbed in the streets by armed men. “We urge the residents to take precautionary measures when walking in the streets, especially at night,” he said.
In the latest incident, a woman was robbed of her cellphone, house keys and R1 000 by two armed suspects. The victim said she was walking along Shibobo Street in Tsutsumani when she was accosted by two men, one of them armed.
The armed man fired a shot in the air.
