Armed men hold up truck and steal R40 000

ALEXANDRA - An unknown number of armed suspects held up a delivery van in 16th Avenue outside a tuckshop and made off with R40 000 in cash.

An unknown number of armed suspects held up a delivery van in 16th Avenue outside a tuck shop and made off with R40 000 in cash.

Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the crew of the van had just delivered goods and collected some money from the tuck shop when they heard gunshots and discovered they had been surrounded by armed men.

One of the suspects opened the door of the truck and demanded money from one of the crew inside the van. He handed them the money and they fled on foot.

No one was injured in the shooting and Maphakela said they were still looking for the suspects.
