Woman raped by drinking mate
ALEXANDRA - A man offered a woman some drinks at a tavern and pumped her with lots of beer and then raped her when she was stone drunk.
A man allegedly raped a woman after plying her with alcohol at a tavern.
According to Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, the woman was so inebriated that she could not even open a case that night; she was eventually picked up on the street where the rapist had left her.
Maphakela said the 21-year-old victim had gone to Chicks’ Place, a popular watering hole in Alexandra, to have some beers. At about 1am, she was joined by a man who offered her some more beers. The man is said to have plied her with so much alcohol that she got completely drunk in the process.
The victim alleged that the man then took advantage of her situation, dragged her out of the tavern to a dark street corner, and raped her. He left her there. The woman was eventually picked up by patrolling police officers who took her to the police station.
On arrival, the woman was still so drunk that she could not open a case. She was kept at the police station until sunrise to sober up, and only then she managed to open a case of rape. Maphakela said the police were still hunting for the suspect.
